DisCouRSE launches free leadership programme for dRTPs
DisCouRSE is offering 32 fully funded places across two complementary leadership development programmes for digital Research Technical Professionals (dRTPs), taking place in the first half of 2027.
Whether you are already leading people, services or communities, or preparing to take your first leadership step, these programmes will provide an opportunity to develop practical leadership skills, apply learning to real workplace challenges, and build a supportive peer network.
Applications are open now and close at midnight on 8 November 2026.
Applicants will be notified whether they have a place by 1st December 2026.
Two leadership programmes
Applicants use a single application form and will be matched to the programme that best suits their experience and development needs.
Aspiring Leaders
A foundational programme designed for dRTPs who are preparing to take their first leadership role or want to strengthen their leadership foundations.
The programme will focus on areas including:
- Personal leadership
- People management
- Communication
- Influence
Established Leaders
A strategic, action-learning programme for dRTPs who are already leading teams, services or communities.
Participants will explore leadership in a strategic context and have opportunities to apply their learning to real workplace challenges.
What does the programme involve?
Both programmes will run over a six-month period and include six modules, with reflective activities between structured learning sessions.
The programmes will combine in-person and online delivery, providing opportunities to learn collaboratively while developing connections with other dRTP leaders across the community.
The syllabus is aligned with management and leadership skills identified in the DIRECT framework, supporting participants to develop skills that can be applied directly to their professional roles.
The programmes will be delivered in partnership with two experienced organisations: Advance HE and MY Consultants.
There will be 32 fully funded places available in the initial run across the two programmes, and travel bursaries are available to support participation.
Certificates and digital badges will be issued to successful applicants who complete a programme in its entirety.
Who can apply?
The programmes are aimed at digital Research Technical Professionals (dRTPs) at different stages of their leadership journey.
You do not need to decide which programme is right for you before applying. Everyone will complete the same application form and applicants will be matched to the most suitable programme based on their experience and development needs.
