DisCouRSE website accessibility statement
The DisCouRSE website is run by the DisCouRSE project team led from University College London. It is designed in line with recognised good practice, and training in creating accessible content is provided to all site owners and editors. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, which means that you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate the website using just a keyboard
- navigate the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader
There are a number of customisation options for your browser and device that could help you use this website and other websites more effectively. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
This website is almost fully accessible, however there are a few issues we are aware of which are listed in the non-accessible content section of this statement. These relate to poor colour contrast on a few elements that are not central to the site’s content.
Feedback and contact information
Please contact us if you have an accessibility query including:
- If you are experiencing issues with accessing information or using the service
- If you find an accessibility problem not listed on this statement
- If you have positive feedback on the accessibility considerations made.
We will endeavour to respond to emails within one working week.
Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Technical information about this website’s accessibility
University College London is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is mostly compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
- The Bluesky sharing button on news pages has a contrast ratio below the standard. This is unfortunately not something we have control over.
- The ‘Next’ disabled link on the last news page and the ‘Previous’ disabled link on the first news page have a contrast ratio below the standard, however these are inoperative. Removing these links is non-trivial but is under investigation.
Our testing processes
We periodically test each new or updated page on this website manually using the WAVE Evaluation Tool.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
UCL has created a Digital Accessibility Policy to help us embed accessible by design approaches to our own development as well as externally procured digital systems and we are actively engaged in processes to assess and prioritise remediation of existing systems.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
