This is a free training programme delivered as part of a funded pilot evaluating Agile training for digital research technical professionals (dRTPs). Supported by DisCouRSE Network+, the programme provides hands-on Agile training for dRTPs across University College London (UCL) and the N8 institutions.

It combines research project-focused workshops, Agile fundamentals, and GitHub tooling to support real-world application of Agile practices in research environments. Participants will assess the suitability of Agile for their teams and projects, explore ways to integrate it into existing workflows, and take part in hands-on activities to apply Agile tools and techniques in practice. The programme is designed for a wide range of dRTP roles, including Bioinformaticians, Research Software Engineers (RSEs), Data Scientists, DevOps Engineers, Digital Librarians, Project and Community Managers, Research Computing Facilitators, Technical Research Support staff, etc.

It runs in two rounds, each consisting of three modules. Participants progress step-by-step from Agile concepts in research contexts to applying tools and practices within their own projects. Full attendance across all three modules in a round is expected to ensure a complete learning experience. We encourage dRTP teams to nominate one representative to attend the programme, who can then share the knowledge with their wider team and support internal training using the materials provided. These materials will be made publicly available via DisCouRSE, helping to further amplify the impact of the training.
